I’m sitting down to watch Lilo & Stitch with my little girl. I’m wondering if I should be proud that she chose that one out of all of the other Disney offerings. Is it Geek-worthy Sci-fi?

I voted yes because it introduces kids to some very geeky concepts at an early age.

I’d say it does count, but only because of the aliens. It’s one of those things that’s riiiiight on the edge of being completley a “kid’s thing” and “sci-fi.”

Kid’s Thing and Sci-Fi don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Since the alien thing is a thread that runs all through it, I feel it CAN be counted as Sci-Fi. Perhaps Sci-Fi Junior, though….

On one level, the whole alien thing shouts “sci-fi!” On another, the whole Disney things doesn’t. I really think it’s just a matter of opinion.

I enjoyed Lilo and Stich. As a matter of fact, we own it. I would never watch it as a sci fi movie, though. The Black Hole is a forgettable Disney sci fi movie. Lilo and Stitch is more about Hawaii and Elvis fans than it is about sci fi. BTW, we watched the Disney Channel TV series for a while, too.
